The Recruited Candidate
Introduction
There is a big difference between trying to hire a truly recruited candidate
and a candidate that is actively "looing" for a job or a job change. The
emotional, mental and often physical pressures that are associated with
"changing" jobs are just not present with the recruited candidate. What this
primarily means is that a prospective employer has to approach this kind of
candidate differently than the candidate that is seeking a change.
Looking for a job change is the fourth most emotional things that people do.
Next to death of a spouse, death of a child, death of a parent, coupled with
divorce, looking for a job is the fourth most emotional process that people go
through. No one likes to change jobs. It is a risk. No matter what level of
employment, from the yard person to the CEO, when a person "looks" for
employment he or she goes through a number of mental and emotional adjustments
to actively seek a change. Changing jobs is a risk. Although it is unpleasant
and an "at risk" proposition, an individual has to prepare for the change.
This mental and emotional preparation affects different people in different
ways. To some, it is a very difficult adjustment. To others, it is an easy one.
But, the fact remains that a person who has, out of necessity, to seek a new
job, for what ever reason, experiences a great range of emotional and mental
states of change. And it is never easy.
