Babich & Associates is conducting a search for a Traveling Superintendent on behalf of an
established commercial general contractor with a Dallas-area office and a national grocery
retailer as its anchor client.
The Opportunity
This is a lead superintendent position on ground-up grocery store construction. You will own the
project from site work through turnover, directing all trades and managing the team on site. The
client is not seeking an Assistant Superintendent or a candidate who requires support above
them. They are looking for someone who has already run this type of work independently.
Refrigeration is a substantial scope component on grocery construction, and hands-on
familiarity with refrigeration installation or remodel work is a genuine requirement rather than a
preference.
Travel
This role travels full-time but remains within Texas. Current and upcoming work spans DFW,
Austin, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi. Living per diem and a vehicle allowance are provided
in addition to base compensation.
Culture
Our client maintains a collaborative operating culture and describes its relationship with trade
contractors as a partnership rather than a hierarchy. They are explicit that high-conflict
management styles are not a fit for their organization. Technical capability is expected. How you
lead is what differentiates candidates here.
Interview Process
Hiring manager resume review, followed by a phone interview, an in-person interview, and a
final conversation with the General Superintendent, typically conducted via Microsoft Teams.
