Our mid-West Dallas area client company is searching for a hands-on MySQL Database
Developer/Administrator to manage MySQL 8.0 and PostgreSQL 15 databases supporting large-scale
application workloads in production and non-production environments.
This person will be responsible for the day-to-day management, security, optimization, and support of the
company’s database environments, with a strong emphasis on SQL query development and performance
tuning. The role will also serve as a primary escalation point for database and data-related issues while working
closely with application engineering, customer care, and other internal teams.
The successful candidate will install, configure, upgrade, and patch MySQL and PostgreSQL databases; create
and maintain database objects; write and tune SQL, PL/pgSQL, and stored procedures; and review schema
designs, application migrations, indexing strategies, and query performance. This person will also monitor
database performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and improve performance through slow-query analysis,
execution plans, indexing, and server configuration.
Additional responsibilities include managing backups, restores, point-in-time recovery, replication, high
availability, and disaster recovery processes. The role will support schema versioning and migration pipelines,
implement user access controls and auditing, maintain monitoring dashboards and alerting, automate
operational workflows using Bash, Python, MySQL Shell, or similar tools, and document database standards
and procedures.
This position will work closely with developers to diagnose database issues affecting microservices and
integrations, including slow queries, locking, deadlocks, replication lag, and connection-pool problems. The
Database Developer/Administrator will also review approved data modifications, execute database changes,
support production deployments, and participate in after-hours or weekend on-call rotations when required.
Preferred Experience
Experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, AWS Data Migration Service, Azure Database for MySQL/PostgreSQL,
GCP Cloud SQL, Python, Bash, Java Spring Boot, Hibernate, Kubernetes, Redis, partitioning, logical
replication, or pg_stat_statements is a plus. AWS functional certifications and/or database architecture
certifications are also preferred.
Additional Information
This is a permanent/full-time, direct-hire hybrid position requiring only two days onsite per week.
Salary: $100,000 to $108,000, +/-, depending on experience.
