Engineering firm currently has an open position for a full-time Information Technology Specialist/ Network Administrator. This person will be responsible for overseeing, maintaining, integrating, and providing support for the firms computing, telecommunications, and online systems and services. Ideal applicants will have five or more years of relevant experience in network administration, desktop support, and other information technology. College level education, Microsoft certifications, and other relevant training are preferable, but not required. Experience with AutoCAD, databases, custom software development, and/or web site design is a plus, but not required.
Computing Systems and Services – They will be responsible for evaluating, procuring, installing, configuring, securing, maintaining, and upgrading the computing systems and services of the firm, including servers, Microsoft Windows based PC's and laptops, network accessible storage devices, routers, printers, copiers, peripherals, cabling, software, software subscriptions, etc. The I.T. Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the firms computer files, including filing structure, file backup, antivirus, firewall, system security, permission settings, etc.
Telecommunications Systems and Services - The I.T. Specialist will be responsible for interfacing with the firms’ telephone and data service providers. The I.T. Specialist will be responsible for maintaining acceptable data transfer speeds and making recommendations to the firm’s management when needed regarding system improvements. The I.T. Specialist will be responsible for evaluating, recommending, implementing, and maintaining systems which integrate employee calendars, contacts, email, etc. across multiple devices.
Online Systems and Services - The I.T. Specialist will be responsible for interfacing with the hosting services of the firm’s web site and email accounts. They will be responsible for web site maintenance, updates, and upgrades. The I.T. Specialist will be responsible to provide support for all managers, project managers, administrators, and marketing professionals to develop, implement, maintain, and enhance the firm’s online presence.
Employee Support – They will be responsible for a variety of employee support services including desktop support and troubleshooting, software installations and updates, smart phone and tablet support and troubleshooting, hardware maintenance, antivirus and firewall implementation, employee training, and implementation of the firm’s technology policies and procedures.
Administrative Support - The I.T. Specialist will be responsible for a variety of miscellaneous technology related administration support duties including equipment and software documentation, tracking and implementing upgrade schedules, procurement, warranty claims, maintenance and repairs, and other technology related administration duties.
Misc. Responsibilities - In addition to the specific duties described above for the I.T. Manager, the I.T. Specialist will be responsible to perform a variety of miscellaneous duties assigned by the firm’s management. The firm believes in the full utilization of its staff. No position at the firm is confined to a narrowly defined job description.
